Attractions In & Around Marathon
Crane Point Museum & Nature Center (right next door to our neighborhood; best to see and tour by kayak from our dock)
Turtle Hospital
Dolphin Research Center (on Grassy Key)
7-Mile Bridge
Pigeon Key Foundation
Sombrero Lighthouse (best snorkling/diving; 4 miles off shore)
Key West (70 minute drive from our house)
Islamorada (40 minute drive; Keys art and tchotchke shopping)
Beaches
Sombrero Beach (central Marathon, nicely maintained, but quite popular as well)
Coco Plum Beach (a bit more remote and secluded, but not quite as nicely maintained)
Restaurants
Keys Fisheries (Keys institution; walk up window ordering; picnic table dining; great sunset bar)
Castaways (Local seafood done with local styles; we also like their sushi because it is fresh Keys seafood)
Fish Tails (Local, family owned dining; closes early, but some of the best seafood and steaks)
Florida Keys Steak & Lobster House (very popular with the tourists; we have had good meals there)
Herbies Bar & Chowder (Local hangout, limited menu; we have had good meals and service there)
Barracuda Grill (nicer, pricier, sit down dining)
Lighthouse Grill (at Faro Blanco resort; nicer sit down restaurant)
Plaza Grill (just at end of street; nicer, sit down meals; good food, service can be slow)
Boat Rentals
All Aboard Rentals (we rented from them last Summer; we went around to other rentals, and All Aboard had the newest, nicest boats)
